I purchased a New River wheel for my hydraulic stump grinder to improve the rate of production. At first it was the improved efficiency that impressed me. Over time I began to realize the true value of the improved wheel. Not only do I get more work done in less time, I also use less fuel per stump. This equates to less maintenance per stump and more stumps ground per day. After several hundred hours I became aware that I was replacing teeth much less frequently. In fact I have put hundreds of hours on teeth without replacing them as long as I don’t encounter metal in the ground/stump. By my calculations, stump grinding is producing 5-7% more net profit just by changing the wheel. This has changed how I look at providing this service for my clients. When I have needed parts or had questions New River has always responded quickly and been very knowledgeable and helpful. I now have two machines running the New River wheel. I wouldn’t consider using any other style of wheel. When compromise isn’t an option, New River is the smart choice.

Do I replace the stump grinding machine or just the disk?

The stump cutting disk is the critical part in grinding down the stumps. Although the machine is important, the stump grinding wheel is what makes the machine. Replacing the wheel with the DURA Disk II not only extends the life of the machine, but increases the machines ability.

Are the cutting teeth designated right or left?

No. The cutting teeth can be used on the right or left side and are inter-changable. This makes order much easier and you won’t have to worry about having extra right-handed teeth and no left-handed teeth. This is especially important in the field, just grab a couple of teeth for emergency replace and have your socket wrench handy, and you will have new teeth replace in a snap!

What are the stump grinding teeth made up of?

The stump grinding cutting teeth are made of forged steel with carbide tips made by SANDVIK. In this design, the tooth is the bolt. It is a simple design guaranteed not to sheer.

“The DURA Disk II Wheel is Awesome”

I replaced my old stump grinding wheel about 18 months ago and I am so happy I did. This disk is easier to run and does not vibrate nearly as much as the old one. I have only needed to replace a couple of teeth due to wear. My last wheel needed 9 replacements mostly because they broke off the wheel. I would recommend this wheel to anyone running a stump grinder … you won’t be disappointed.
